Description

This hike leads to spectacular views that extend from Mount Tom in MA to Long Island Sound. The first overlooks are accessible by a short climb to the ridge. Continue along the traprock ridgeline and pass through Preston Notch, the gap that divides Mount Higby’s distinct humps. The ascent to the ridgeline is steep but hikers will be rewarded with picturesque views south to the Beseck Mountain ridge and Black Pond.  There are more spectacular views and lunch spots the further you travel along the ridgeline. There is an unusual natural bridge formation (use caution around the cliff edge) worth seeing as well.
