Chauncey Peak & Lamentation Mountain

This loop hike passes numerous overlooks with long scenic views from the traprock ridges of Chauncey Peak and Lamentation Mountain. It also passes Crescent Lake and a historic canal in the gap between the ridges. Park at popular Giuffrida Park and get ready for a steep ascent to 688 foot Chauncey Peak. The ridge has outstanding views of Crescent Lake and the distant Hanging Hills. Make a steep, rocky descent to the base of the ridge and, after passing historic canal, there is another ascent to the 720 foot high ridge of Lamentation Mountain where there are more sweeping views.
